Sandwell Valley Country Park has introduced all-terrain mobility scooters available for hire, giving visitors with limited mobility greater access to the park's grounds and attractions.

The park has partnered with Countryside Mobility to offer Tramper hire. The Tramper is an electric scooter designed to travel across outdoor terrain including slopes, uneven paths, tree roots, mud and puddles. With a maximum speed of 8mph, it allows users to keep pace with walking companions.

How to book and costs

Tramper hire costs £2.50 per session. Users must be members of Countryside Mobility, with membership options available through Countryside Mobility's website. Membership includes specialist insurance cover.

All users receive a full induction before setting off. To book a Tramper, visitors can call Sandwell Valley Visitor Centre on 0121 569 3070 in advance or speak to staff at the centre.

Supporting visitors

Sandwell Valley staff have received specialist training through the West Midlands Growth Company's Destination Development Partnership funded Inclusive Tourism Programme. The park now has trained Accessibility Champions onsite to support visitors.

Dedicated Tramper routes are available across the park, allowing visitors to discover landscapes, wildlife and attractions at their own pace.

Countryside Mobility is a not-for-profit Tramper hire scheme with more than 60 hire locations across the West of England and Wales. Sandwell Valley is the latest destination to join the scheme.
