Sandwell Council has received donations of life-saving emergency equipment from four local businesses. Seven bleed control kits and one defibrillator have been installed across Sandwell's six towns, with placements in two libraries and other community venues.
The equipment was donated as part of the Safer 6 community safety campaign that took place over the summer. The businesses also provided external cabinets to house the equipment. Dodd Group, one of the council's contractors, assisted with installation as part of its social value work.
Building on existing provision
The new donations add to bleed control kits and defibrillators that have been installed across Sandwell in recent years.
What the council says
Councillor Ray Nock, Sandwell Council's Leader and Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Growth, said: "We are very grateful to local businesses for donating this life-saving equipment. This shows excellent partnership between the council, businesses and the wider community, working for everyone in Sandwell."
He added that the equipment enables faster emergency response in the community, improves survival chances, increases visibility of safety measures in public spaces, and boosts confidence in town centres.
