West Bromwich Albion midfielder Isaac Price has highlighted the strength of the squad's depth as the reason behind the Baggies' recent success, following back-to-back wins where substitute players scored decisive goals.

Albion beat Wrexham with a late winner from Aune Heggebo on Tuesday, after Price himself had equalised. They repeated the feat on Saturday, coming from two goals down to defeat Blackburn Rovers, managed by former Albion boss Tony Mowbray.

Felix Horn Myhre scored the winning goal in the 89th minute, just two minutes after coming on as a substitute — his first league goal for the club. This marks the third time in 11 league games this season that manager James Morrison's side have come from behind to win.

Squad Rotation Paying Dividends

"We've got a good squad and there's a lot of belief," Price told BBC Radio WM. "The subs changed the game at Wrexham in midweek and they did again here."

Price acknowledged the importance of rotating players to keep them fresh. "No player wants to be rested but, in the grand scheme of things, it's for the best. You can't be playing too many games. It helps keep players fresh."

Despite a poor opening to the Blackburn match, Price said the team controlled large parts of the game. "We had a really poor start. We conceded two poor goals that we shouldn't concede but we still controlled large parts of the game and we got there in the end."

Albion Now in Play-Off Position

Following the two wins after an earlier pair of defeats, Albion have climbed into the Championship play-off zone. They currently sit fifth, alongside Birmingham City in fourth, Stoke City in sixth, and Wolves in eighth.

Albion travel to bottom club Preston North End this Saturday. Price urged caution about the club's current position, saying the team does not get carried away by results either way.

"We don't get too down when it's going badly and we don't get too high when we're going well," he added. "There are a lot of games in this league and things can change very quickly."

Price's Penalty Gamble

Although Heggebo and Horn Myhre claimed the winning goals in the past two matches, Price played a key role in both comebacks. He equalised in both games and provided an assist for Heggebo's goal at Wrexham.

Against Blackburn, Price scored from a cheeky 'Panenka' penalty to make it 2-2, wrongfooting Hungarian international goalkeeper Balazs Toth. The Northern Ireland midfielder has now scored six goals this season.

Price explained his decision to attempt the audacious spot-kick: "I've missed two in international matches. I know their keeper plays for Hungary and I knew they've been watching my recent penalties, so I thought now the time was right to try it. It looks good when it comes off. But, if the keeper had stood where he was in the middle and caught it, there might have been a few people not too happy."

Price has now scored 16 goals in 77 appearances for Albion — a scoring rate of one goal almost every five games.
