More than 200 residents have used a free advice centre launched by Sandwell Council in Smethwick, with initial results showing strong satisfaction levels.
The Smethwick Advice Centre operates every Wednesday from 9.30am to 2pm at Smethwick Library. The pilot scheme began in July.
What the figures show
A 99% satisfaction rate has been recorded among users. Of those who attended, 98% said they would recommend the service to others, and 99% felt confident they could resolve their issue after receiving advice.
What support is available
The centre brings together advisers from Sandwell Council and voluntary and community sector organisations. Help is available with money, benefits, employment and a range of other financial, housing and welfare issues.
No appointment is necessary — the service is open to all Sandwell residents who need support.
What's next
Councillor Gary Dale, Sandwell Council's Cabinet Member for Finance and Corporate Services, said: "The Smethwick Advice Centre is for anyone living in Sandwell who needs support. Whether you are struggling with rising costs, unsure about claiming benefits, looking for work or simply in need of advice, we're here to help."
Following the pilot, the council will consider rolling out similar advice centres in other towns across Sandwell where a need for free advice has been identified.
